We are happy to inform you that SES 2017 was successful and well attended by industry, officials and senior representatives from the armed forces. The quality of participation was excellent witnessing key industry members and senior Govt. officials. With over 130 participating Organisations and 30 exhibitors, the two days of deliberations were embellished with eminent speakers and subject experts.
Conference, Exhibition and Technical Sessions witnessed keen participation with over 200 Delegates in the Conference and select business visitors in the exhibition. Presence of Dr. V K Saraswat, Member Niti Ayog, Shri Sanjay Kumar Rakesh, IAS, Jt. Secretary, MeitY were the highlights of the event. Similarly on day two, presence of Dr. A P Maheshwari, IPS, ADG, Border Security Force (BSF) as the Key Speaker during the session on Homeland Security was of immense value. Mr. Dhirendra Singh, Chairman, DPP Committee chaired the session on Strategic Partners Program and was accompanied by industry stalwarts from Tata Power SED, L&T, Reliance Defence, and Mahindra Defence. The Technical Sessions by BEL, C-DOT and C-DAC too were deeply appreciated by the Industry and highlighted major opportunities and technologies.
Goods & Service Tax (GST) has been implemented from 1st July 2017 and considering the considerable ambiguity regarding implementation of this landmark tax legislation. ELCINA organized an awareness Seminar on the implementation modalities of GST on 21st June 2017 at 2:00- 5:00 PM at ELCINA House.
The Session was organized. The Session was conducted by CA Sandeep Khandelwal and Dr. Amit Mittal CEO, I-Toss Solutions, Noida. The session addressed the mystery regarding the numbers & Types of GST returns to be filed, mechanism of input tax credit etc.
It helped participants in better understanding of the subject and will also assist in transition from present Tax regime to GST. The session was customized to address the concerns of ESDM industry and some specific issues raised by ELCINA members such as:
A three member Taiwanese business delegation visited ELCINA House on 14th June . The objective of the delegation was to meet Indian companies who are into manufacturing of Televisions and Display Technologies. Taiwan is world leader in the Display Technology and they are looking for suitable partner in India to enter into Indian Market. Also, Taiwan Government is organising a big event in the month of October in Taipei specifically for India and keen to invite suitable companies there for further discussions and MOU signing.
Dr. Michael Ho, Project Consultant, (India-Taiwan Smart Cities project) with his colleague and a Senior official from ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan ) met and discussed with ELCINA members.
It was a great opportunity for Indian Companies interested to collaborate with Taiwanese partners in the form of JV or Tech Transfer.
A delegation of ELCINA Members led by Mr. Vikram Desai visited Taipei from 29th May to 3rd June to attend COMPUTEX Show. On the side-lines of the COMPUTEX Show ELCINA has organinzsed 3rd Edition of India Taiwan Electronic Meet (ITEM 2017).
ITEM 2017 was co-hosted by five leading ESDM sector trade promotion bodies of Taiwan - Government of Taiwan's Institute for Information Industry (III), Taiwan Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers' Association (TEEMA), Taiwan Printed Circuit Association (TPCA), Taipei Computer Association (TCA) and New Taipei City Computer Association (NTCA). Representatives from 12 ELCINA member companies, Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) and ELCINA participated in ITEM 2017.
ITEM was launched in 2015 with the objective to promote business partnerships between Indian and Taiwanese Electronics companies to jointly explore opportunities in India's national initiatives including Make in India, Digital India, BharatNet, Smart Cities Mission, National Solar Mission and cashless payments; a key goal is to enhance value added manufacturing in India and bridge the growing demand-supply gap.
It is heartening that the first edition of DEFCON was very successful on most counts with participation of the industry beyond our expectations. The event witnessed participation by about 100 organisations and 150+ Delegates.
ELCINA has been working consistently since last 8 years to promote manufacturing in the Defence Electronics Sector through research, organizing the Strategic Electronics Summit in Bangalore and inputs to the government on Defence Production Policies and Procedure. We organised DEFCON (Defence Electronics Conclave) in Hyderabad in order to further enhance this effort. The event was aimed at highlighting the growing scope for industry, both public and private sectors including SMEs, to work together to serve the defence forces and facilitate awareness about technology development opportunities.
ELCINA led one delegation to Korea from 23rd April to 26th April which was supported by Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) to attend the KPCA Show 2017 (Korea Int'l Electronic Circuits Show) and KIEP Show 2017 (Korea Int'l Electronics Packaging Show) which were scheduled from April 25 - 27, 2017, (Venue KINTEX 2, Hall 7~8) in Seoul, South Korea. KPCA show is one of the largest show in the world for PCB and EMS companies.
In addition to KPCA and KIEP Shows, we have had meeting between ELCINA delegates and Anyang Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ACCI) dignitaries, Anyang City Mayor and important members of ACCI who were interested to meet the Indian Companies. ACCI represents a large number of Korean companies from ESDM Sector. The meetings were very fruitful and in future we will surely see collaborations between Korean and Indian companies.
Electronics is playing a key role in enabling energy efficient lighting as well as generation of energy from non-conventional resources such as Solar Power. In order to highlight the opportunities and technology for the Solar and LED Lighting sectors, ELCINA has organized a Seminar on "Sustainable and Green Energy Solutions - Solar Power and LED Technologies" on 24th March, 2017 at Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat.
During the 7th EFY Expo organized during 2-4 March, 2017 at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bangalore, ELCINA successfully organized a CEO Summit in which top speakers from the Industry shared their success stories. The theme for this year's summit was "Roadmap for Enhancing Value Addition in Electronics Manufacturing".
Apart for CEO Summit, ELCINA also organised Buyer-seller meets during the Expo.
Electronic Industries Association of India (ELCINA) & Manufacturers Association of Information Technology (MAIT) organized the 8th edition of Source India 2017- Electronics Supply Chain" on 20th January 2017 at the Hotel Green Park, Chennai. The event theme focused onLeveraging the Market for achieving 50% Value Addion in Electronics Manufacturing in the country.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Vikram Kapur, IAS, Principal Secretary to Government of Tamil Nadu, Industries Department, who shared the details of the strategy being followed by Govt. of Tamil Nadu to retain its lead in manufacturing and providing due importance to the ESDM sector. Mr Kapur appreciated the fact that ELCINA had organized Source India in Chennai for last 8 years and the event was very popular with the industry as a source for business development.
It is heartening that Source India 2017 was very successful on most counts with participation of the industry beyond our expectations. Over 125 organisations participated as Exhibitors, Delegates and/or Buyers and over 200 Conference delegates. The event hosted 19 Buyers from a variety of segments of electronics including, IT/Computers, Mobiles, Automotive, Telecom and several companies from EMS Sector. These companies had over 300 One-to-One meetings which would result in enhanced domestic sourcing and spur manufacturing which is the need of the hour.
A small ELCINA delegation led by Mr. Amrit Manwani, Vice President ELCINA and CMD of Sahasra Group to attend Changsha Electronic Expo (November 18th to 20th 2016).
Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, is one of the main cities on central region of mainland China. Hunan Province is the economic, political and cultural center. This province has been accepted from the five-year plan by China central government. The economic development of GDP reached up to RMB 850 billion in 2015. It causes the great potential in the consumer and industrial activities in this area.
The event presented 5 primary themes : Robotics and Automation, Electronics components and Automotive electronics, Smart Living and consumer electronics, ICT and Cloud computing, New energy and Environmental protection. we target to recruit 200 exhibitor using 500 booths and invite 5000 professional managers and buyers for visit. The leading participants include Foxlink, Inventec, Fair Friend Group, Kenmec, Goodwill, Tatung, Shihlin Electric, Lens Technology, Sany Group, Zoomlion, Sunward Equipment Group etc.
A delegation of ELCINA Members led by Mr. Vikram Desai visited Taipei from 4-8 October 2016. The Agenda included participation in the TAITRONICS Show on 6th- 9th October 2016.
On 5th, ELCINA delegates with FICCI Delegates had an Industry visit to ASUS and meeting with ASUS VP, Global Strategy led by Senior officials of Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY). On 5th evening, ELCINA hosted a dinner for Taiwan Printed Circuit Associations (TPCA) and Institute for Information Industry (III) Officials.
On 6th all the delegates participated in TAITRONINCS Show which is the largest Electronics Event in Taiwan and ELCINA was invited by TAITRA as we well as TEEMA. India had a major presence in the Show with a large Indian Pavillion which was supported by DIPP and MeitY and total 80-90 delegates from India.
On 7th , ELCINA Delegates visited Inventec Corporation and met Chairman of the company.
